“Yoga for me is a way of life. It is pure joy, freedom, peace and calm. It is also constant learning and developing my self mentally + physically. After this training I feel more peaceful and calm; more focused and relaxed inside. I can feel my body has changed; I feel better, stronger and more beautiful. I see the world in brighter colors! When I go home I hope to share my training with my family and friends by teaching them yoga.”

FLEXIBLE TRAINING FORMATS

Train at your Own Pace - With our beloved rolling admission/rolling graduation option students can attend trainings (online or in-person) and accumulate the hours required for graduation over time. Every YTT manual comes with a sheet which can be used for recording hours spent training with our program and instructors. We encourage you to think of training as an accumulation of hours over time rather than a specific set of knowledge. This format works best for students looking to study one weekend at a time, a few evenings a week or even weekly a few times a year!

Weekends - Currently we run weekend trainings monthly at Rooted Yoga in Barre, and Yoga Lab in Middlesex, VT, USA. Weekends currently run Saturdays and/or Sundays. Each weekend offers varied contact hours of training time and our monthly calendar can be found here

Intensives - Train 1, 2 or 3 weeks at a time in different locations around the world. Upcoming trainings include the JANUARY INTENSIVE led virtually on Zoom January 8-March 22, 2024. Each week includes 10 contact hours of training time. It’s not required to attend all weeks of any intensive, each day or week can be looked at as an individual training “module” to fit your scheduling needs.

Online - YTT modules and videos are viewable at your leisure and available 24/7; journaling, writing, creating, discussion, etc will be required before hours are granted for certification. We use a combination readings, photo + video sharing and writing assignments to keep content interactive with 1:1 feedback from trainers as assignments roll in, and we also have 300 hour options available! Students already enrolled in our training may choose to “drop-in” to ongoing online sessions via Zoom as well.

Classes, workshops + retreats - Any of the classes, workshops and retreats offered by our trainers are eligible for training contact hours, but additional payment may be required as there is usually limited space available for these events!

Residencies/Work-Study/Internships - Often times our students are looking to combine their education with an internship, residency or work-study component, either in collaboration with another institution or within the needs of Rise + Vibe. We believe that every training opportunity is valuable and would love to work with you to make it happen! Individualized programs, independent study and trainings are available on a case-by-case basis. This is ESPECIALLY ENCOURAGED in our expansive 300 hour program.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Yoga Alliance - Please click here to visit the Yoga Alliance website for an idea of how they regulate the international training standards for yoga schools. Rise + Vibe trainings follow these standards, along with their own mission of elevating each students practice to a new level. We’re raising the vibration by offering dynamic and diverse trainings which cultivate teachings with openness, curiosity and discipline.

- Curriculum - The content of our training falls into 5 categories of study:

  1. Technique, Training + Practice, YTT1: Styles are founded in Ashtanga and Vinyasa, with an intention to introduce complimentary styles like Yin, Restorative + meditation practices. These hours are spent practicing yoga; asana, pranayama, mudra, mantra and more.

  2. Anatomy + Physiology, YTT2: Expect to study the human body on a physical, mental and spiritual level. From the anatomical systems of the body, to maps of prana running along our nervous system and the mind/brain connection, topics here are currently relevant and always evolving as Western + Eastern sciences start to work more closely side by side.

  3. Yoga Humanities - Philosophy + Lifestyle, YTT3: The history of yoga is rich and deep. While there is still much we don’t know, what we do know is incredibly valuable and important to being successful teachers of yoga. These hours are spent discussing the Yama + Niyama, historical context, classical texts/philosophies, cultural appropriation and meaningful mindsets.

  4. Professional Essentials - Teaching Methodology, YTT4: In the name “yoga teacher training” this is where we break down safety, lesson planning, business, marketing, client relations, standards of practice and much, much more. You’ll leave the Rise + Vibe training with resources and knowledge moving into the modern yoga world.

  5. Rise + Vibe Electives + Practice Teaching, YTT5: Every yogi comes to YTT for a different reason. This part of your training is personal and unique, time spent journaling and preparing for your graduation (see bold sections below!). Why are you here? Both in YTT + the world? How is yoga relevant to you? Each student will be expected to start graduation prep about half-way through their training! *Talk to Chrissy if you have any questions.

- Daily Journal - Your teacher training journal entries are the first step in developing a daily practice. Set a time of day, or two, to sit down with your journal and be with your SELF. Yogis cultivate knowledge not only through the practice and study of yoga, but through the study of the self (svadyaya). Pay attention to what you write down, or what you don’t write down. Notice what is difficult about daily practice, also find out what can be rewarding from this discipline. Journals are private and open to any thoughts, feelings, experiences or conversations that arise, but here’s a list of things you can keep in your journal:

·      Practice log: reflect on your asana, pranayama or meditation

·      Dreams: begin to track your dreams

·      Daily recap: just write about what you do and who you see each day

·      ART: draw yoga poses, doodles, landscapes, your pets, your friends

·      Sanskrit: writing and rewriting new words for memorization

·      Poetry

As you progress through your training try to find something that makes you feel alive. If you make this discovery, dive into it. Learn, grow and practice by nourishing your being. A happy, healthy human makes the best kind of yoga teacher!

- Graduation - Once the Yoga Alliance requirements are met for contact hours training with our staff, each student will be responsible for presenting their Rise + Vibe independent study component. Below are the total number of hours needed in training with Rise + Vibe before you are eligible for graduation:

  • 200 hour certification - 180 contact hours. Minimum 20 additional hours in independent study.
